Wow - I totally blew the processing on this picture. I was really surprised when I saw the score in the 4's but I'm glad that I got plenty of comments about the green. I still don't see the green on my computer at work or at home - just a slight hint of green in the whiskers but by reading the comments, it must be much worse than I can perceive :-(

I think that:

I'm colorblind,
My monitor is not calibrated right,
or BOTH.

[Oct. 24th, 2008 04:08:03 PM]

The comments have been very helpful in pointing me in the right direction. What I think the green tint came from the glass between me and the tiger.

Unfortunately, since I do have a degree of color blindness, I could not see this very easily, even with a calibrated monitor.

Some of the votes mentioned they would like to see this in B&W and some would like to see it w/out the unintentional green cast so here they are:

Goodness, yes, in answer to your comment box, the green is VIVID. Can you see if when you view the image from another monitor? We're not talking subtle here, it's dayglo! :)

I like the natural colour though processing makes it seem kind of soft focus and the close-up doesn't really speak wild to me, it shouts zoo zoo zoo!

But BIG improvement on the green!

:)

MUCH better!!! Even though I wouldn't have scored it too high because it's a zoo shot it still would have pushed a 5.75-6.0 without the green color cast.

I think, this would look so much better b/w. The colors are so off, they are distracting. There is some really nice texture and the comp works well.

I think it would have looked better without the green tint. It's an awesome shot!

This is a beautiful shot of a very handsome tiger, the focus is good and I love the close crop. I don't feel the green adds much to the shot, personally I'd rather have seen him in his proper orange glory. Some green patchiness has leaked into his eyes too, which spoils them a bit. I wonder if you upped the green to hide reflections if he was shot behind glass? Still, if this is a glass shot, it's a very well done one.

This is one of the most amazing pictures of a tiger I have ever seen, awesome job even getting close to this guy.

Nice image but there's something really strange going on with the colours. Would have looked really good in black & white.

I think if you had left this the natural color, it would have been a winner.

Sure is close...too close for comfort. He has that "you are going to be my dinner" kind of look in his eyes.

I would have given this a much higher score if it didn't have a green tint to it. Lovely shot otherwise.

I can't say as I care for the cyan hue. You've got nice detail here but the color is just not doing anything for me.

Excellent shot, but appears to have a green/blue colour cast over it.

whoa! I'm sure others have already pointed it out, but I think you got some color issues goin on here. Unless the greenish hue was on purpose??

a little too processed and green looking...perhaps you should have tried black and white or something else
