Thanks Sandy and all the rest of the commenters. I was lucky to get a few usable shots of this eagle as it flew off a telephone pole. Most came out with wires and the pole in them. I entered a very similar one in the wildlife challenge and it scored 6.8 so I suspect people knocked this one down due to lack of originality.
maxxumg - this was in the wild as I live in an area that has quite a few eagles. I was able to stop, get out of my car and walk pretty close to the pole he was on. The problem is gettng them with a good background and keeping signs of man out. This was in a river delta made up of many farms. I go there often as it is full of raptors.

Ohmy! These voters must be just so de-sensitized to majestic photography. This is a National Geographic magazine feature photo. I'd think I'd died and gone to heaven to see an eagle out and about in the wild like this -- but then to capture such detail in a photograph. 6.3 is quite an understatement of this photo!

Great flight shot :-) Lost some detail on the closer wing but that Eagle eye and talons are scary-sharp. |

Great capture! These are not easy - particularly since the light seldom hits areas below |

nice eagle, though I doubt it is in the wild. Not big fan of the crop |
