Abandoned people stay in abandoned buildings and they don't usually clean up after themselves.
One of my first successful efforts at an HDR, using the freeware version of Photomatix.
I like the way the wall in this came out looking. It's actually a corner, so that gives the deteriorated pattern a distinctive look. I had a hard time deciding how to adjust it, as minor tweaks made large differences in the appearance. I tried adjusting the tones for a little more oomph in the wall, but felt it then overpowered the rest of the image, so I backed it off a bit. It's still not subtle, though I do expect to get some comments suggesting how I could have done the wall differently.
There is no roof on this building either, but lots of trees overhead, so I had strong but diffused lighting. I may take some detail shots of this wall next time to use as overlays.
Pre-challenge notes:
It certainly doesn't suck, but may not have the broad appeal for a 6+ either. It's a photo of a pile of trash, after all. Hoping for a mid to high 5 out of this.
Post-challenge notes:
Fell a little short of what I had hoped for. I suppose the interesting pattern on the wall was not quite enough to carry this shot. Still a non-embarrassing score for me. |

I like the textures and abstract nature of this photo. |

Too much color. Also, it needs some further contextual clues. I'm not sure what I'm looking at. A street scene? Maybe a different angle would have helped. |

interesting concept for abandoned. I like the wall behind as the backdrop and the idea of the colour in front of it. Seems that "poverty" is quite the topic to photograph the last couple of challenges, doesn't it? I'm just not sure that I'd get the idea of it being a place someone sleeps without the title?? To me, it appears like a bunch of stuff, left behind, which does say, abandoned but, has no real "punch" to the look of the photograph itself. Perhaps, having zoomed in more to it??? |

Great image and man, that's a cool wall. Hope you got close ups of the texture, it would make for some awesome overlay effects. |

Interesting, lots of texture in this. I would like it more without the small gap on the left of the pile. |
