This is the last remaining building on the old Kodak Factory Site in Toronto. Eight others have already been dismantled and torn down.
I worked there, full time, summers in the mid-70's, packaging film to be sold in order to earn money to put myself through University. It's a sad sight to see this complex being torn down, not only for me, but for hundreds of others who have worked for Kodak and on this site.
The original, faded, dirtied old curtains hang from the windows, tattered, windows broken and vandalized by gangs as you can see by the graffitti on the boarded up entrance. In its hayday, this used to be one of the most upstanding and well respected businesses in the area. It provided many area residents with employment for over 6 decades. None of us know yet what will happen to these grounds as the plans are still in the process. Some feel that it should remain industrial area, others feel that commercial, box-chain shopping should go in.
It's a memory of my grandmother whom I loved very much. She was the Seamstress for this company for over 40 years. It was her influence whose pull got me hired as a summer student employee. She is gone and now, so are the buildings that employed her and hundreds of people over the years.
It's sad to say, and while it's progress, it's the invention of digital photography that has created this loss for not just the hundreds, employed by Kodak here but, the thousands employed by the company over the decades. Shamefully, I have captured its demise with the very invention that has caused this to happen.
*This is for you, Nana!!!*
Post Challenge:
I suppose that I could have Topazed the crap out of it to make it feel more abandoned. I could have tone mapped it to death. I could have turned it into B&W and done all of the above BUT...the fact is, it is abandoned and it does speak for itself. "Dull and flat"??? Hmmmm....

I think the "dull & flat" comment might have been a bit misinterpreted...what I see in this shot (besides one of my favourite subject matters) is a little over-saturation and under-contrast. Perhaps try to bring the sat down -20 or so, and then play with a "curves" layer to bring out some of the depth....
I'm glad you included the story behind the photo. The photo makes you want to know more about what happened here. And I already gave you my thoughts on the technicals lol.
Okay, another dull, flat pic of the front of an old building. But the title tells a cool story. Your pic should be doing the majority of the story-telling, and it doesn't. Fits the challenge though.
