This is a copper ore rock that was given to me when I did visit the now defunct Aur Louvicourt Copper Mine near Val-d'Or, QC, about 10 years ago. It was taken at a deep of about 1200 meters.

The rock contains mostly copper but it also contains iron, nickel, zinc, and possibly gold (as the mine was also producing gold).

Alain - Very well photographed piece of copper ore. These types of rocks are extremely hard to photograph well, show detail, and make interesting. I think you did a fine job with it.

Nice texture, but try for a bit more DoF on this type of shot.

don't like the shallow DoF here. smaller apature and more light might help

Another photo of a rock... You achieved a nice light cast on this but it is still just a rock and does not make for a very interesting shot with any amount of photographic value.

Looks like an illustration in a geology textbook. I'm not really sure if that was a compliment or a critique.

Certainly fits the challenge. But, the contrast is too much and the focus just doesn't seem right???
