Hey there from the Critique Club

First off, always try to include some info about the shot in the Photographer's Comments section. It really helps out when we know what the photographer was thinking and what equipment/lighting/etc. were used, especially when you request a critique.

Camera Work/Technical: With the excess lighting, it is really hard to critique the technical aspects of the image. I think that this was probably the main area voters subtracted from you score.

Lighting: It is indeed backlight, but the lighting is a bit too harsh for my taste. I find myself looking away from the subject even when I am trying to provide constructive feedback.

Composition/Content: I am not sure exactly what you were after here, but her expression looks blank, even lost. Her placement in the frame is nice, and the colors you chose for her outfit are equally nice.

My Opinion: While you did a fine job in meeting the challenge, I think the excess amount of lighting hurt your image, thus your score, more than it helped.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide a critique on your entry,
Eric

Lighting out of control.

This one grew on me. At first the bright glowing background bothered me, but at a second look, I like it and can appreciate the challenge of preserving detail in her face along with the backlighting. I also like the blue tint on her hair.

I like this. I like that the model is off center and that you lit her well enough to get a good exposure and still made a statement with the back light. I like the intense expression, too. 7

The blue on her head is distracting

Back light is way, way, way too overdone. It just really makes this photo bomb.

Cool effect, but your model just looks like she is standing there instead of being part of the scene.
