Well... this certainly took a lot of doing. Quite the trek out to this place that Debby found (in a book). It involved a 2 hr drive to the ferry, and then 2 hours by ferry, followed by a 30 min drive, and a long hike. We packed in a LOT of gear for this - four lights, lightstands, umbrellas, power-pack, costumes, cooler (for the dry ice, which didn't work too well), tons of props, etc. We were a bunch of mules.

But it was worth it. This place is so surreal... truly in the middle of nowhere. It is actually a Mausoleum, at the end of a private family cemetary. I originally wanted to use Knights, as this is the perfect round-table. Will definitely make the trip back some day - when I find the right Knights willing to make the trek.

The family were Masons, and this place lives up to the expectations. There are so many small details that this size does not do justice to. For instance, each stone chair has a family member's name inscribed in it... two of them reading "Knights Templar" after the name.

I had to crop the bottom 3rd off of the frame to even get this much detail in. Can't wait to get some of these printed off in a 30x40 size.

Thanks to my models (and assistants) Debby, Rai, and Matt - for braving the journey.

Hope this can hold it's own in the Master's. Truly a daunting task :O) (yikes!)

Striking and unique. Magical and misterious. A great example of what can be done when we have the will to do it. Congrats for this amazing image.

A 6.88 and top 20 in the masters - you should be very happy! It is a great image and a fantastic looking setting. Again, it looks like it's one more secret location I will have to get you to reveal to me. How do you feel about waterboarding? Are you allergic to sodium pentathol? :) Congrats, Rob!

An excellent job.

I am assuming all 3 models are just you. If the case, an excellent example of the mastery of exposure.

NIce job.

very cool scene - I see it's been validated, glad I waited on this one because I have to say I was wondering myself. The tree in the immediate background looks added and it is odd that the distortion of the pillars doesn't seem to match the people. Maybe it is a painted backdrop & this is a scene from a play - that would certainly explain the discrepancies & the strange mix of colors... good luck! -- 7 --

it seems a little flat and uneven. this might work for some, but not for me.

Spooky lighting, so evenly lit, but only in the foreground, and very few shadows. Makes it look like a painting. I like.

I like the architecture but not necessarily the monks. But, it's not about what I like and more so about photography right? Overall, I think it's a 10 of a photo.

This is excellent from a technique and quality standpoint. What makes it really stand out to me is the suggested message of some dark ritual captured. It's unnervingly well done. 9

This is kinda scary. :) I am lovin the skull back there and the placement of the figures. That bg tree/trees really add to this image, IMO.

Looks like a lot of work in lighting and costume and general set up. Not sure if I can tell why or what for.

The gray of the background sky throws me off. It's a neat scene, but I'm working on the purpose. Just sorta wacky like an album cover? or are we to get more out of it? 6
