I'm stuck in Thailand (Nov 29th) awaiting resolution of the airport closures. After going through some shots I've taken over the last few weeks this one struck me as being appropriate. There is already sadness in the air for India and it is likely there will be violence here between the reds and the yellows, at least today's rumors predict it for Sunday. I hope it turns out to be wrong.

Not the best shot I had but with a large amount of cropping and some shadow work I think it brings out what I'm feeling at the moment. I hate to edit on my small laptop but it is all I have till I get home which is likely at least a few more days.

Great expression. I wish her face was lit a little brighter.

You must mean before they closed the airports and stranded 300,000 travelers ... (just kidding). Nice capture of an emotive portrait. On my calibrated monitor, the face is somewhat dark. Would like to see her face a little more. Nice catchlights in her eyes. Nice detail in the hat.

Nice low key portrait. Very honest and a good character study.

The lighting and colors and great, very soft, except for the bright bit off the top of the hat. I'd prefer if that had been cropped out, it's a little distracting, but overall I really like it.

Who can't relate to longing for something in the past? Wonderfully captured, and the sentiment is conveyed very nicely.

Chailai sat and pursed her lips. She hadn't wanted to come to dinner. She was fine at home, on her own, tending her garden. However, Her niece and nephew had made such a fuss, and so she had relented. She had put up with their constant chattering, with the long ride to their home, with that yowling mutt they called a pet. She'd put up with all of that with nary a complaint, but when dinner was ready, and they had appeared with this RIDICULOUS hat, well, that was just the end of her patience. She had a mind to pout right through dessert.

I don't like the title... but I like the image. The background is wonderfully blank, too. Well done. (not voting yet)

SO DO I!!!! We are supposed to be flying there for a well planned and paid up holiday on Thursday and the nation is on its knees with the Bangkok airport closed! Can you give this woman a call for us and ask her to go and do something about it!????

Great image...love the tones
