Well, there it is. I found out how hard it is to take a lightning photo. I took around 200 shots on this evening, and 2 had lighting in them. :) Apparently I should have been there 20 minutes earlier, as by this time, but storm had well passed the city, and some low cloud was blocking the lightning. But anyway, I quite like this shot in the end. Would have been nice if the lightning was a little more, but I got what I got.
I tried different exposure times, but with too long an exposure, the city lights were overpowering the lightning, so I had to stick with around 2-4 seconds.
If we get more big storms (which we likely will) I'll have to try to reshoot this sometime.
Editing as usual for me was way too much time for such a small change between original and final result. :) Still not sure about the title.
This was originally my Free Study entry, but I found a better picture, so this one has been moved across to the Master's Free Study. I know this photo won't do well here against the many, but my best shot has to go to the FSM, and I'm only entering the MFS because I can. :)

Mt Cootha with a zoom? I've been trying to find the time to get out all storm season, but haven't managed it just yet. This is a cool capture. |

I truly like this image very much. I hate the letterbox format thing, but that's a peronal quirk. Very nicely capture.......lightning is extraordinarily hard to catch. 8 |

Nice capture, the small size doesn't do this justice, this would look awesome as a giant print. |

well captured. don't think the movie bars add to the composition here |

the big chunk of black at the top of the shot is quite distracting IMO |

First comment on a border, but I don't like it here. Gets too lost at the top with the funny transition. THe shot is quite cool though. Does it have a strong NI treatment? Something looks a bit off, but it's still a cool shot. 7 |
