Seems out of focus, cannot see the rust |

The colors in this shot are really muted and dull. Possible result of too bright of a light, or if you raised the brightness in a photo editing program, that would do it too. Your background is horribly tilted. Straighten that up. The sky is white and very blown out. Your subject definately contains rust, but I think that's all you have going for you. Even the focus is soft. I don't mean to sound harsh, but you should really take your time when shooting. Also, if you have a photo editing program, try upping the contrast and lessening the brightness. I think that could help a bit with the washed out color. Also, try upping the saturation slightly. ~Heather~ |

Too washed out for my taste. |

You need to work with levels and contrast and some cropping would eliminate the busy background. |

would be improved by adding contrast and a little saturation. |

The colors are certainly wishy-washy on this one, I'm afraid. |

I'm sure you've had a lot of comments ..but too bright/not enough contrast |

I don't feel I have the photographical experience to comment on the composition, but a bit of post processing could have made the picture come more to life. Specifically, more contrast would lift the haze that seems to be on it. One thing I did notice though, is that it seems like the picture is tilted (all the lines, both in the fence and on the pump point to the upper right), rotating it so that the lines point straight up could (perhaps) work better. |

This is a very contrast-free image, which can sometimes be nice effect, but does not work here. I can hardly tell what I'm looking at because the colors of the pump blend in with the background. Also, there is no reason for so much of the composition to be in focus. If you'd have walked 10 feet closer to the pump and composed the rusty iron plates in the foreground with the sky or trees in the background, you might have had something. Next time, avoid shooting into the sun to minimze the lens flare, which is why your image is so washed out (or cover your lens with a lens hood or your hand). |

very flat. looks like you were shooting with the sun in your lens. maybe try to shade the lens, shoot at a different time of day, or try a different angle. |

Angle, faded out, background, needs lots of work. |

This interesting picture is badly underexposed. Have you tried taking a series of shots with a range of exposures? |

Severe colour cast/haze. Normally it is easily corrected in PS levels. I tried with this one with no luck. Maybe with the original it could be fixed.

This photo almost looks like it's taken through thick smoke. I personally don't feel it complements this subject. You might want to look at //www.lonestardigital.com/photoshop_quicktips.htm for a way to clear this up using your favorite image editor. |

pic is washed out, low on contrast. Read up on how to set levels or curves in your editor. |

The angle is a little disturbing. There could be more interest added by not centering the main item. The colours are quite dull - levels should be adjusted in Photoshop to bring out the colours. |

i actually liked the composition of this shot (tilt works well here) with the exception that you gathered too much of the sky. your cam seems to have problems with low contrast and chromatic aberation. possibly might improve upon this by avoiding including too much of the sky; :) i also tend to forget this in my own pictures |

The faded look is a big detraction to this shot. Also, the tilt does not work for me. |

This image has a washed ot quality. A little saturation adjustmement might help. Maybe taking from a lower POV would help to get some of the background fence out of the image as well. |

Needs a HUGE boost in levels and contrast. Very muddy tones and the composition is skewed. Not sure I like it. |
