Day 19 of Whatevers
Had to do some Christmas shopping today (couldn't put it off forever) and saw that there are now peppermint star-shaped Peeps for the holidays. I've resisted the puffy little trees as just wrong (Peeps are for Easter .. and science experiments), but the idea of festive little peppermint marshmallows for hot chocolate when the kids are here was irresistable. So home they came, and I decided they were my photographic subject du jour. If I had found them last week they could be in a challenge right now, but today I was free to take their picture without retaining the starry shape if I so desired. Which I did. So ... have some peppermint Peeps, up close and personal :-)
Oh, and I used a desk lamp and fill light from the Puffered onboard flash. And I had the 36mm extension tube on. (I think that's everything of interest to photographers who may want to replicate this masterpiece LOL!)
PP - converted from RAW, white balance, played with saturation (up on red, down on other colors except the forest green of the plate), increased contrast, added border, resized, sharpened. |

I think I saw these at the commissary last week, and like you, I just thought it kinda wrong. Peeps must be chicks or bunnies, must be bought a month in advance and left OPEN so they get hard and chewy... but I guess the idea of sticking them in hot chocolate excuses this new variety.... sorta... |

Peppermint Peeps? Really? I have to go buy food tomorrow, I'm keeping my eye out for this wierd little sugar bomb. What a nice, festive pic & how pure the white & red. |

This looks like a cherry covered snowball. How cute is that! Nice use of shallow DOF to get the viewer to key on the peep.
