Day 20 of Whatevers
My cat, Kira, decided to take a nap in one of the boxes of Christmas decorations and when I spotted her (on my way out the door to a neighbor's party) I HAD to stop and capture this. She was not entirely thrilled, and didn't want to look at the camera, but I loved the ambient lighting on the scene even without eye contact. Shot wide open to avoid using the flash, and I'm even OK with the resulting noise.
Kira is about 17, BTW, and has outlived every other cat we've ever adopted. You can just barely see the tip of one ear has been cut off, which happened because she was caught as a feral cat and spayed, and when she didn't show insane hostility to people while recovering they decided to put her up for adoption. She has been spoiled rotten ever since ;-)
PP - converted from RAW, cropped, levels, convert to B&W, increased contrast, dodged eyes and a little on face, burnt curve of her back, added border, resized, sharpened. |

I love the noise. Almost makes it look as though it's a print on a leathery cloth kinda paper. A lovely pose from Kira, too. |

This has an old film feel to it. Like a frame from a Christmas movie. Looks as though we are both into kitties these days. :~) |

This has great DOF for the scene. It's better that you didn't use flash and destroy the wonderful lighting. |

Cats do have a way of being where they shouldn't really be, don't they? CUTE! I like the light and grain, makes it look like a sketch almost. |
