The lighting seems flat. Compositionally, I'd like to see more space in the direction he's looking, and less space on the left side of the image.

a little too dark for my tastes, als could be sharper.

This is a little dark, and the light on the glasses makes them grab my attention. I think a little fill lighting from the general direction of the camera would have helped.
