Hi Judy and *Greetings from the Critique Club *
As you will note, I left a fairly long comment on your image during the challenge. I stand by my earlier comments and am very surprised your image didn't finish higher.
There was a comment about the image being tilted - which is not the case. If you look at the left and right sides of the image - the building is victim of the effect called "keystoning" which is caused by shooting up with a wide angle lens. Keystoning can be corrected by a) Using a shift perspective lens (expensive and probably not available on the 717), b) Shooting level with the building (have a heliocopter?) or c) Post processing.
Once again - a very strong and vibrant submission - congratulations. |

I like how the majority of the shot is yellow with the exception of the green stature at the top. |

Very nice night photo, everything is in good focus and there is no noise in the sky. The building looks a bit crooked. |

Very nice photo, colors, clarity, contrast. I wish that tree weren't in the photo. I know there's nothing you can do about that, but it does take away from the overall perfection. I like this photo a lot though! Great job! |

Your choice of time of day took an "average" subject and propelled it into a work of art. The late sky along with the glowing orangy building really sing. And the green statue on the top is icing on the cake. How can you improve it? The only thing that comes to mind is a person in colorful garb sitting on the platform to the left of the door, but that's not that important. What is important is that your image should finish way up there. Congratulations. |

I gave this a four. The image is quite a bit tilted, as you'll notice if you look at the steps and the podium (or whatever that structure is in the foreground). The podium thing itself is a big distraction in the foreground. The tree at the edge of the frame is very distracting. It would have been better to find a different position to eliminate unecessary objects in the frame. That glowing spot over the door keeps leading my eye right to it without a payoff. The real interest in this image is the contrast of color between the twilit sky and the architectural details at the top of the building. |
