Only animal I could find due to all the people taking advantage of the warmth. Also first day out with the new lens that I think I am really going to enjoy!

Nice little birdie, good focus. The branch in the front is little distraction.

Congrats on the new lens, you picked a nice one. Looks like you're getting the hang of it already too. Looking forward to more.

I like this photo. It's something you see so often and it's always beautiful (but it would be nice to see more of the face).

That is one sharp and detailed lens! Nice shot, too bad he wouldn't pose a bit better.

Good capture for this time of year! It's going to be hard going for the first few weeks! Have fun with your new toy!

PAW (for my 2009 goal counting purposes) - Wildlife is going to be difficult to consistently get. Thank goodness for the abundance of birds. The branch in the way is unfortunate. It's a unique pose, with the bird apparently preening. Other than the blocking branch I like the rest of the branches. They help the picture a lot.

Cracking capture. Wildlife's not so obliging in the Winter months. Wildlife's not dumb.
Ditto the anticipation.

Lens did a great job. Always nice to start the year with a new toy! I like the little backlit fuzzy belly feathers... fat little guy :D

Whoa, I would say so you are going to like that new lens. Who wouldn't? 28-300? I'm so very jealous! It certainly did you proud for this photo. The beautiful detail in the feathers is nothing short of amazing. I do so love those cool blue wintery tones too.

I'm looking forward to 51 more wildlife photos from you :) Yayyy!

Beautifully sharp, the only thing I would change would be the framing.. I would like to see him fill more of the frame.

Nicely captured shot, though I feel the bird is a bit close to the bottom of the frame.

Can't wait to see how you go with the new lens. I'm thinking of buying something similar as I don't have a tele zoom at all just now!
