I know what you mean. I think the same thing whenever I see the sad, empty eyes of some of the animals in captivity. Beautiful work! Congratulations on winning first place with this. |

Congratulations Jason on your first ribbon. I'm sure there are many more in your future. Great photo. You did a great job of finding something uniquely different to submit for this challenge that totally meets the definition of unlucky, from the point of view of the orangutan. It would truly be unlucky to be captured and not in the wild for her I would think.
All the best to you and yours.
MAX! |

It's a very interesting photo, however, it doesn't tell the story too well. I expect the orang utan to be inside a steel cage because your photo title is "Captured". I do like the exposure and the mood of the creature. Well done. |

Sad and at the sime time endearing.
The image is a bit grainy, but it works. |

Images like this make me feel quite sad. Yes, he is unlucky.
Your image works well in this challenge and doesn't need a title to make it work. Subtle exposure adds to the melancholy. I don't know if eye contact would add or detract from the emotion. |

Huge dilemma: I actually love everything about this shot, it's visually stunning and very well captured - congratulations. Shame you would submit it under a theme that doesn't suit it at all; there's nothing unlucky behind the shot, the mood or even the concept. In fact, we can't even tell he's in captivity. It would've been such a great entry under "free study! (and my vote would've been a lot higher). Brilliant shot though :) |

Poor fella. It sure would be unlucky to spend your days in captivity. Nicely 'captured' shot but a little lacking in contrast. |
