Just placed a candle behind a glass of ice. I adjusted the levels and chaged the image size for the contest but everything else is as it came out of the camera.

Effective - about the most popular theme of the challenge. Bacgound bring the flame out very well.

Good idea but the glass takes away from the shot rather than adding to it at this angle to me. The rim of the glass is distracting, maybe if you had taken the shot from above? Also, a bit more contrast would really help this shot. Started at a 3 but am bumping to a 5

Out of all of the fire and ice photos, this is one of my favorites. The thumbnail actually looks like the candle itself is made out of wax in the shape of ice! That'd be a neat marketing idea.. hehe. But I really do like this... very well carried out!

The ice is what falls short on this image. It's too gray, too boring (obviously just taken from the ice maker), and too confined in the galss. Black background works, but the ice, which is most of the subject, isn't compelling. There's no mystery here. Either you have a candle behind the glass, or in the glass surrounded by ice cubes. Try to think of another angle or perspective!

The best on ice and water so far.

Better than my fire and ice shot... good job!

Compositionally I think this needs some work. The bottom of the glass is cut off and the flame is interupted by the rim of the glass. 4
