i love this as an image but, as a test of your photographic prowess at the time, let's talk about it. the color, form, action, comp are all exceptional qualities, your execution is very lame especially if this is going to be judged by dpc'er for a best of a year. This is all about criteria, if you entered it into a blur or even an action challenge you would be no where near a brown in fact for either of those challenges IMO you could receive numbers closer to ribbons. so, don't fret my friend i think this is an exceptional photograph. IMO this one is far superior than the other pixel mess.LOL

to add to this qoute.

You have totally got a great shot here. It is just very very soft, you need a faster shutter speed to help with this and then unsharp mask will help too.

I still think this is a great shot, just needs more work on it.

I think your equipment failed you here. You have excellent timing, a good composition, and great colors, but you seem to have been too far away to capture the scene without cropping it way too far. It might be time to upgrade as it appears you have an eye for photography.

Just not sharp enough (too cropped?) to score highly, I fear.

A great action catch. It's probably already been mentioned about the grain and resolution. I suspect this may be a severe crop. Maybe some noise reduction could have helped some, but I'm not sure.

Great capture! I would have liked to have seen a slightly looser crop and a little more sharpness. 6

This must have been amazing to witness. It's such a shame that it is not sharp enough. This looks to me to be a fairly small crop of a larger, soft original. Either way - not enough to work with to produce an image that does the scene credit.

It seems a bit blurry...

Its just not a clear photo. Looks as though it was taken through glass.

i love how these guys get so viscous with each other - i just wish the image were sharper in focus and the contrast were a bit higher

It's a nice capture. You rarely get to see these birds with this posture. Could be sharper.

great capture, for me the poor focus really impairs the image, if it were in focus it would should 3 points higher

Great subject, but poor qaulity.

Great moment but it's a bit blurry and noisy.

If only this had been sharper...

Interesting scene captured here. The shot is quite soft and there is no separation between the birds making them appear to be one jumbled mass.

Nice capture, but these need to be a bit clearer.

They really can fight can't they :O You've caught a great piece of action there and the composition is spot on. Have you had to enlarge quite a severe crop or did you use a digital zoom? A lot of the detail has been lost, or more likely wasn't there. Maybe set your camera up on a tripod with a remote cord allowing you to be a bit nearer to the action - you've got some great subjects there :)
