This is one of my favorite macro images I have taken this year.

The trunk of this tropical palm 'host' tree, was about 15feet high. I was looking directly up at it, when taking this photo, of the underneath Staghorn fronds, with the rich velvet spores against the bright green leaves.

I love the sculptural effect of the composition, color, detail, textures, pattern, line, shape and form.

I hope you like it..... Enjoy..... love shez

I love the way you captured this. When you started off the '08 March Macro challenge with this other velvet staghorn shot & followed it up with your Best of '08 entry above, it was like you were throwing down the gauntlets & challenging/inspiring the rest of us to take some interesting photos. I have to admit, your day 1 velvet staghorn shot is my personal favorite, but I do love this one too.

Not sure why I like this so much. Not much is in focus, and some of that is blown out...but the curves and colors and texture are interesting, flowing, inviting. Pretty nice.

7 - Really like the colors and composition. Difficult, but 'if only' the very fore in sharp focus and just a little more (maybe) depth of field to show what this is. I doubt many will know what it is... but I do.

I like the macro approach, with detail near the edge of the contrast between orange tones and yellow-greens.

Shez? I do hope so! This is beautiful and I have no doubt it would look stunning as a large print! I love the little slice of texture we get on the edge , it's just enough for us to get a feel for the subject and the brown and green blend together really nicely :o)
