this is one of the most beautiful and peaceful images....the colours, the shapes, the textures. It's one that I keep coming back to because of how it makes me feel |

I didn't vote on this challenge, but I would have given this image a 10. I just love it and just by seeing this window I want to stay at this hotel. I like the idea of old and new together.

Great job! I gave this image an 8 in voting. I just did not manage to make it back to comment. The contrast between the old and new elements in the image make this one of my personal favorites. :)

Very nice photograph & idea. A horrid Microsoft blue on the screen could have made the contrast even greater.
I got lucky with light and a window this morning picture

Thanks to all for votes and comments. I had no real plan for the challenge. Link below is to the venue - in itself quite an extraordinary story - in that it isn't actually an ancient building at all, being constructed in 1932. A 'genuine fake' as someone described it.

Never managed to vote on the challenge, so am only looking now .... but I really love this photo. Unlucky you didn't get a ribbon, though the ribbon winners are also excellent, as it is certainly ribbon material. |

Interesting concept - very well executed. I love the mellow colors from the window and the light is not too bright. I might have liked to see the computer on (but I understand photographing a screen isn't the easiest thing to do). Strong composition with the lines of the gothic arch and open windows. |

Whoah.. the first thought I had in looking at this picture was "That is SO out of place!" It looks like some kind of advertisement for laptops! hehe.. very nice job! I actually really like the fact that you didn't have to have the same ancient and modern objects.. like an old and new house, or old and new computers. I really like how this adds another dimmension to it. |

Nicely lit, well composed. The exterior is blown out and that's a minor distraction. Meets the challenge. Might have had something on the puter screen (a cross?) for a bit more punch. 6 |

I love the lighting in this! The composition is excellent also. The laptop doesn't compete with the window details, but makes for a complimentary point of interest. Very creative and well done! |

Brilliant idea and execution. The highlights are not blown (not quite) but they are overexposed, inevitable when shooting against a window and I'm being picky. I love it, pleasing composition and restrained colour, contrasting shapes and angles, great stuff. |

Good idea for the challenge. I like the contrasting concepts and textures. The overexposure in the brights causes loss of detail and takes attention away from the more interesting subjects. Overall, a fine photo. |

I usually HATE photos of technology stuff (cell phones, keyboards, etc) but that window sill is so great, it even makes that laptop look great. This would make a great add for IBM: Tag line: "Just imagine what Shakespear could have done, if only he had the new IBM Think Pad"
Great shot. So far ont of the best. |

Top ten for me, would like to have seen a little more detail in the light areas outside the window, maybe a little more sharpenning too.
good work though. |
