Challenge: Ansel Adams II (Advanced Editing VII*)

Date Uploaded: Jan 19, 2009

My mom & I went to visit friends this past weekend & came across this church.
This is an HDR of 4 images, used mostly adjustment layers (I was thinking it was basic, which good thing it wasn't or I would've gotten dqed for the hdr, duh, what was I thinking!?). Dodged & burned a few spots to get a little more contrast out of it, guassian blurred the bkgrd a little w/ layer mask. Added the border.

I know Ansel Adams wasn't exactly a building photographer, but I have hopes this may do well after seeing the 4th place (I think) finisher from the first Ansel challenge. Comments & (*constructive) critiques always welcome.

Beautifully expressive light, great development of tones, but way too crowded in the frame (I'm sure you were backed up against something, LOL) and just too extreme in its convergence for my tastes. Still, nice grasp of Zone System principles as far as processing goes.

Love the contrast between the church and the sky!

Love the tones captured. There seems to be a slight processing halo on the right side of the building (I may be wrong and it is natural), 7
The tilt in the perspective does not quite do it for me in this shot.
