This is an old birch tree at Noden Reed Park in Windsor Locks CT. It has been a subject of mine many times for college class, and now it makes an appearance on DPC. I wished all week it would snow for this shot, but it didn't so I dealt with it. I did however buy a new pp tool for editing this week, Topaz Adjust. I don't know how they get it to do what it does, but if not overdone, it can really help add pop to an otherwise less than stellar pic...i diid try to duplicate the results with just photoshop and got close, but it took forever.
PP was convert from RAW, topaz adjust (photo pop preset), curves, black and white @ 40% opacity, dodge and burn, cloned out the sun glare in the trees, duplicate layer, usm (it sharpened the branches of the background trees too, so I masked that part out), save for web.
Shot @ 10mm standing 6 ft away from the subject. Oh how that wide angle comes in handy. It helped that the clouds were very interesting to I think... |
