Not really sure how this will do, but I like it so I'm not really worried about the score on this one.

This is fantastic. The meaning, the shot.... everything. This should have one. Best meaning of silence. Thank you for sharing with us.

How awesome that you would have such a touching image of one of our own. Congratulations on the top 10.

Congratulations! Thanks for not cropping my ugly mug out of the shot. But I don't think the Colonel would be pleased!

I don't think this photo will do very well, but as a retired US Army NCO I find great meaning in it. This photo isn't silent to me, it screams. Beautiful, dignified capture that far too many people can relate to today. I may be biased, but this is the first and probable only 10 I give in this challenge. Well done.

Good journalistic type image with sharp detail. Conveys the meaning of the word "silence" quite well too. Well done Toddhead. 7

I like this. You've captured a moment of peace very well. However I don't like that you've cropped off part of the face of the gentleman in the background.

This really nails the challenge. I like the starkness of the bw for this.

Very nice shot. Heart wrenching, especially with all of the friends and people I have in my life serving.

Great detail and feeling on the right soldier, but the crop on the left soldier really wrecks this for me.

I Like the idea you have gone with for this photo. The mood is set, the black and white processing adds to the mood, the shallow depth of field works well.

However, the crop is distracting. I would have preferred that the background person does not have part of his face cropped off. I don't know why you have done this (unless that was all the capture you had). Also not sure about the crop at the bottom right corner. A little more space below and to the right, just for that the Rank is not crossed, and run the crop along the back of his shoulder.

Emotive! Sometimes you may find yourself in a position that may not be possible to get the perfect angle. Editorials are like that. If you only could have moved to your right to include the background figure more and moved the subjects closer this could have been a 10. It contains all elements for this challenge and technically perfect.

WOW! You are really trying to bring your average down with this shot.
