Lucky Ducky having a wash on a hot, hot day at Lake Esmond.
This little lake used to be a quarry until excavations broke into an aquifer and it flooded so fast that the quarry trucks and equipment are still at the bottom, which is deep. It is a godsend to some ducks that have lost Lake Wendouree, (and Lake Learmonth, and Lake Burrumbeet) but the swans don't use it. Goodness only knows where they go.

You manage to capture great bird shots, but the reflection and foreground grass add nicely. Amusing pose as well. |

Nice pose, and the frame of the reeds is nice too. That's an interesting story about the quarry. They have many quarries here. They dig the rock for roads ect, then when the hole is completed, they build homes around it and sell it as waterfront property.
I hope that all the workers got out safely when it flooded. |
