 January 14, 2009 Birthday Portrait




Katie, my daughter, had her 14th birthday this week, so I made her pose for a quick protrait. She also go the braces this past week, which she was really jazzed to get. It's funny. We both got our braces at the same time, but she is doing so well with them. Here teeth are hardly sore, the spacers moved her teeth easily and she looks darling in them. Not so with me. Although I look cute, it's not been easy or comfortable. I guess that's what happens when you are "ancient".

Oh how cute! At least she loves them instead of hating them and refusing to smile for the next few years!

Wonderful portrait and I love those big smiles. I don't know much about portraiture, but the taller girl on right and the red dress keep pulling my eye that way. Perhaps similar colors or having girl on left a bit higher would work? Not really sure, just thinking out loud.

Rebecca, you are the Bomb! Braces at 53? I've always wanted to get braces, but the past few years, I've always said, "Oh why bother, I'm so old" :) I'd like to see a self-portrait for inspiration please???

Your portrait of Katie and her friend is adorable! What teenage joy radiates from this photo.

They both have GREAT smiles!! And confidence - at least it sure seems that way from this picture! My only suggestion would be just a tad more light on the left.

PAW - Cute shot. I think softening the focus and/or diffusing the lighting a bit would improve the faces. Nice background, is that a photography backdrop?
