post challenge:
thanks to everyone that voted and commented. this pic was shot in the late afternoon sun so it's all naturally lit with no fill flash. it surely would've been a nicer background if i could've taken the shot from the opposite side but i would've had the sunlight coming from the front and all the glare coming off the ocean. i am definitely happy with the results of the challenge and how the photo turned out.

Back ground is a little distracting but besides that, a great action capture!

Excellent action shot. Really unfortunate the background is so cluttered. Would another angle work better, maybe if the beach is behind you as the sign indicates?

Everything is very sharp and contrasty. It is very pleasing to look at. At the same time, the guy almost does not look real. It looks like he is totally frozen in time. It IS a very pretty shot and although I know there is plenty of action, it does not express action very well. 7

Great action shot. I understand that the ball should be in frame to give context, but I'm not really getting a sense of height because of the framing. Still nice though.
