Centered. Should be closeup.

There doesn't seem to be anything in focus here. *sorry* I like the simple composition... but the image quality is not working for me.

Good sense of design.

great photo i like the fact that the background is complementary and yet not competing for attention, which is a difficult thing to accomplish

Interesting, simple composition. Wish there was a little more detail in the flower though.

colors more vivid, and higher contrast would help :)

I think this composition is a little awkward but would pop with a square frame, nice DOF though.

unusual perspective for a floral..

Nice background, flower is a bit dark and seems out of place a little

not enough detail on the subject for my liking

The lake is beautiful and the flower is beautiful. You have two equal strength focus points competing for attention, to the benefit of neither.

Nice perspective but the flower just does not look sharp enough to me.

Colors and composition are rather bland.

I really wish there had been some fill light on the flower, would have loved to have more color/information.

The lake seems to be turning around this wonderful flower.

That's an interesting plant. Your photo looks a bit dark and underexposed and the plant is too centered for my tastes.

The color on this is wonderful.

I'm not sure the flower adds that much interest to the scene.

really nice focus...recently I took a class and the teacher made a comment about a picture that I did...he said do you know how many photos of flowers I see that are "dead center"...that being said...that is my only critique...otherwise a very pleasing photo

Nice, is it Crater lake? Focus on the bud looks soft.

Unexpectedly, the centered composition works well here and I really like the DOF you chose.

I hope this doesn't go underrated by dpcers. I really like this, it's simple but really draws your attention.

I like the flower against the smooth water, but am not keen on the central placement. Not enough to keep my attention.

Interesting way to frame something!

Might have been nice if you could have found a way to bring up the warmth and intensity on the flower in the foreground to really make it stand out and work well with the very appealing background. PS it works perfectly in the middle like that.

Good idea. OOF on the flower is distracting a bit.

interesting composition, but the focus on the flower is too soft of be effective. there is too much empty space around it

It was but a splash of color in a sad and grey filled expanse of landscape, and it was the first of its kind here.

It stood there, and was remarked upon, and brought some joy and hope to those that saw it, but it was only a mere suggestion of the beauty and wonder that would be. For when it bloomed, it would bring to this land a breath of life that it had never seen before. When it bloomed it would bring renewed hope to all! When it bloomed it...

... and a child ran by and plucked it from the ground, thinking it rather pretty, and all hope was lost.

Nice concept, although I'm not sure if the centered placement of the flower is the best choice.

I like how you've isolated the flower with the dof

A little drab for me in color but nice subject.

what a gnarly flower. great choice in background, this looks so surreal, like an alien flower next to a lake on neptune or something:)

I really like the subtle light and color in this.

Nice idea but the flower is too central for my taste and as such looses it's impact

This somehow grabs my attention, such a commanding subject...lording over the waters below. It throws all "rules" in that water and succeeds in spite of itself. It allows my imagination to roam, stories to form...I won't bore you with them, I just really enjoy this photograph.
