Hi Debi
Greeting from the Critique Club...
Congrats on your new DPC personal best in this challenge
You say in your bio that you know how to work natural light and this is a fine example of that. As many of your commenters predicted, I think you did suffer at the hand of the measurement sticklers -- when given a change to differentiate one good shot from another... the photo that follows the rules best gets the nod.
That said, you've created a wonderful composition by tieing in elements that pull my eye throught the frame. The white background offers no distraction and ties in the white from the subject's shirt. The red poles tie in with the subject's arms (all twisted about each other) and connect the bold red with softness of the child.
Her not-quite making eye contact with me has the feel of a candid moment -- you've caught a moment of time of joy "unposed" and something that's universal in the story it tells.
Many of the commenters touched on all my points. I hope you found this useful. Please pm me if you have any questions
Regards,
Theresa |

I'm really likin' this one here!!! Great focus on the little girl; interesting lines, bright colors. Wish the sky wasn't so blown out, but we can't change the weather! Great shot! |

You know, I'm looking at this again Mom, and Gracie really isn't dead center. Not if the focal point is her eyes.
That being said, the lighting is really cool. Where did you take this? |

Oh this is sweet. The child is beautiful, and worthy of being the "central figure."
She's ;beautifully framed by the red, which also coordinates nicely with her blouse. Good job over all. |

the not-centred police will get you for this, though i think it fits nicely. the background is a little blown out, but there's nothing wrong with a high-key setting when you have a cutie face smiling in it :) P |

I like this picture a lot, but the little girl is not really right in the centre of the frame. She is a bit to the right of centre. |

Wonderful composition and portrait. Lighting is very good. Only thing I could say to slightly widen your crop so that you don't cut off one of the red bars in the bottom right. Well done! |

nice shot, but doesn't scream "centered" to me. The subject isn't quite centered, and the lines lead the eye up and down more than resting in the middle. |
