I think that what I like better about this shot is the snow, it adds more interest ...it appeals to me |

I remember thinking this might be yours when I voted. The grasses intrigue me with the patterns they make - I wonder if they lie flat because of the weight of the snow that has rested on them, or because of flooding from the stream. A really pleasing composition. |

Well, of course it's not surprising, nor did I say I was surprised. I just wish people would work harder at judging an image on its own terms, instead of reacting from an arbitrary position. I realize this isn't gonna happen, and I'm not even annoyed at anyone for *doing* it, but still...
For me there's not a lot of difference between dismissing this image because "I'm not a fan of HDR" and dismissing ShooterX's image because "I don't like cats." Seriously...
I just wish someone'd have looked at the ORIGINAL post-challenge, seen what I was working with, and discussed the two objectively. I still think this is a heck of a job, and not extreme at all. Certainly, it's MUCH closer to what I actually *saw* than the as-captured RAW is.

of course, if the "approach" is what makes them like/not like a photography, i want to know that as well. . . .
I like the breadth and depth that this shot feels |

I can see why you like this--great depth and leading lines. The processing has enhanced that in the grass as well The snow gets a little weirded out by that processing though. I'd have stepped it back just a tad, but it's very painterly and impressionistic as is, which I like. (Not voting, just commenting, at least so far.) |

Really great angle and composition on this. Since my earlier novice comment about "alittle heavy" on the processing, I have researched HDR alittle. In doing so, realized your processing is truly reflective of that style. Your picture is beautifully composed and presented, which clearly shows someone behind the camera who possesses the photographic eye we'd all love to have. Just wanted to come back and tell you. From the humbled and somewhat embarassed novice :) |

I really like this - the composition is nice, the scene is interesting, the colors and tones are great but... I'm not crazy about the PP - seems a little too much for this terrific shot. It's just a matter of taste, I know. I gave this a 7 but with more subtle PP would have voted it higher. :-) |

Interesting post processing but it really makes the image rather busy. The water does help to lead through the image but can't hold its own against all that's going on in my opinion. |

I am not a fan of HDR so what I say probably won't be what any other voters are thinking because I seem to be in the minority on this. It's overdone to me, you've taken a lovely scene and made it cartoonish and fake looking, sorry. That being said, the waves in the grass in the foreground are pretty cool. |
