surprisingly underrated. This has much of the same quality of a few shots in the top 100.

I don't get it.

Very soft and delicate...great job with the shallow DoF. Beautiful!
03/17/2009 09:52:52 PM
Very subtle. Nice colors and clarity.
03/17/2009 03:30:53 PM
Curious depth of field on this image. I would recommend increasing the D.O.F just slightly to get both the pistol and stamens in sharper focus
03/17/2009 12:19:59 PM
This is very cool, the soft focus works well with this.
03/17/2009 10:32:48 AM
delicate image but focus seems softer than it should be.
03/16/2009 05:32:00 PM
Very pretty... I'm lovin' the bokeh. I wish it were centered, though (cropped off right side) since the flower seems to be leaning out of the left side of the frame a bit. Lovely job on the PP.

excellent dof. very dreamy
03/16/2009 12:38:08 PM
Nice macro - love the tones. Focus seems just a hair off, but still gotta give it a 7.
03/16/2009 10:05:02 AM
hm , nice macro and toning , could be just a little bit sharper in the middle or at the zooming point.. I still give 6
;D

take care, brano
03/16/2009 03:31:08 AM
Awesome capture and presentation. Gorgeous.
03/15/2009 10:45:37 PM
DOF a little to shallow for my liking
03/15/2009 09:44:51 PM
soft, beautiful sage green tones, luminous 9
03/15/2009 07:50:01 PM
I like the way it reaches out, a little sharper though would be nice
03/15/2009 07:23:29 PM
Interesting camera view, very sharp. What would it look like with a different background?
03/15/2009 06:49:26 PM
DOF is just a little shallow IMO
03/15/2009 05:03:04 PM
I love the greens here. Wish that more of the flower petals were in focus.
03/15/2009 04:52:11 PM
Lovely soft edges and a nice bokeh.
03/15/2009 03:31:20 PM
So tiny! Nice detail and colors.
03/15/2009 03:08:20 PM
Image feels a bit dark and the DOF is a bit too shallow in my opinion.
03/15/2009 01:56:35 PM
Nice DOF and colors. Nice shot.
03/15/2009 12:08:14 PM
I really like the dof on this one, just enough information
03/15/2009 10:05:55 AM
Very nice DOF, a delicate looking photo.
03/15/2009 09:50:35 AM
a little too soft for my liking.
03/15/2009 09:39:57 AM
The softness really adds something to this shot.
03/15/2009 06:36:10 AM
Lovely flower. Looks a little bit out of focus though. Nice bokeh.
03/14/2009 10:50:22 PM
Nice capture.
03/14/2009 09:31:19 PM
DoF is less than needed.
03/14/2009 06:20:19 PM
Lovely colors in this macro. A bit blurry.
03/14/2009 06:02:47 PM
A little more depth would be nice.

Coming back to comment...

So simple yet so beautiful! 10
03/14/2009 02:19:30 PM
very pretty, nice use of hte DOF, colors are perfect, this is one of the better ones in this challenge
03/14/2009 06:44:32 AM
I really like this picture, but if I'm honest I think I'd like to have seen a tad more sharpness at some point in the image. I really like low DOF images but I think that works best where you can see a point of real sharpness. I have seen soft images that I really like, but they tend to use depth a bit more effectively and have more interesting colours; I'm thinking of the sort of images ursula produces. Still, this is a nice picture though and for all my nit-picking, I have given a 7.
03/14/2009 05:59:54 AM
sweet shot great dof and perspective
03/14/2009 05:46:42 AM

03/13/2009 10:53:25 PM
nice selective focus in this
03/13/2009 08:37:44 PM
focus is a bit soft.......I like the OF background
03/13/2009 07:25:53 PM
would really like to see this in sharp focus, the background in very good
03/13/2009 07:09:12 PM
really soft gentle image. if anything the reddish tone off on the right is a bit distracting- its nit picky though.
03/13/2009 07:03:45 PM
Nice bokeh.
03/13/2009 06:33:56 PM
I like the shallow DOF, but wish that the flower itself was a little sharper.
03/13/2009 05:21:20 PM
Beautiful bokeh! I just would like to see the flower with more focus, but this blurry yellow is sooo amazing in my opinion! Great shot!
03/13/2009 02:25:49 PM
nice! simplicity at it's best! 9
03/13/2009 01:28:09 PM

03/13/2009 09:57:39 AM

In the vastness of the universe, floating through clouds of stardust and energy, it lived. It had existed since the beginning of all knowledge and existence. It was old beyond measure, but even the eldest of things must one day cease to be.

Yet it was not to die without cause, without purpose. It floated there, in the emptiness that was not entirely empty, a massive pod that could swallow a billion planets. Old and decayed and withered. It floated there and seemed dead to any eyes that might behold it.

Then, so slowly that even time could not measure it, it began to open. A crack appeared at one end, and it began to bloom. Over the eons that remained of its life, it cracked open to reveal its legacy. The birth of a thousand newborn entities of its likeness.

And as they scattered into the vast unknown, it finally ceased to be. Its consciousness winking out in a final unremarkable gasp.
03/11/2009 08:11:15 PM
Very nice job with the soft blur and depth of field. I bet the critics are having a field day with your soft focus. Don't listen!
03/11/2009 07:01:31 PM
Moody :)
03/11/2009 06:36:19 PM
very nice
03/11/2009 04:39:03 PM
Very pleasing. I am not usually a flower fan but this one intrigues me.
03/11/2009 11:37:48 AM
I love narrow DOF. This is really beautiful.
03/11/2009 09:09:41 AM
This could make a nice thank you card.
03/11/2009 03:49:18 AM
I really like the way you've gotten just the tips in focus, nice effect
03/11/2009 02:30:19 AM
Sorry, does nothing for me. Very difficult shot to take, you done well to get what you have.
