Challenge: Hidden Gem -- 1,000th Challenge! (Advanced Editing VII*)

Taken at Lincoln Center in New York City is one of my all-time favorite photos. Nothing is staged, I just walked by the fountain an this is what I saw. I was definitely less skilled when I took the photo, but hey, eventually a blind squirrel will stumble upon a nut.

This photo has made it into juried shows and even sold. This is the only photo I have ever sold in an art-show/gallery setting. I hope you all like it.

I must mention, though, that it will be DQ'ed if it needs to be valiated. Hard drive space was running low when I took the original picture, and since .dng files take up slightly less space than the normal .cr2 files. I would always convert what I shot into a .dng and delete the .cr2 file. As a result, I have the the .dng but not the original original.

As Posthumous might say, photography is an art and a medium through which to express yourself; little rules like the exact file type of the original shouldn't get in the way of the final product. Normal there is no way I woul o this but because this is basically a celebratory challenge, I felt compelled to share something I think is special.

What a neat people shot; So many characters here. Might have cropped it in a little more on the left, and maybe played around with the editing to bring out the colors/details more.

very different...good shot but you have to look for your subject, eye goes to guy in green. I'd crop out the nerdy guy and all elements to the left of him.

I really enjoy this shot. Been looking at it for a while trying to put the words together. Even without the title, the guy fixing his bowtie does look as though he's getting ready for a show. What I like is everyone else is also dressed nicely, doing their own thing, as if the show is close to starting. It's impressive because it doesn't look staged. But the best thing I love about this is the person in the middle who doesn't fit. And I've wondered if they're not the actual one getting ready for a show. This shot really makes me think and look deep into your thoughts when looking at this before snapping the shot. The only suggestion I can give it the water in the fountain. It looks as though it's a little blown out. But seeing the light on the ladies heads on the left tells me it's directly on the water which probably didn't help at all. Not sure if it was unavoidable. Ok done with the war a peace comment, great photo, really, really enjoyed viewing this. 8

Ralph straightened his bowtie. This upcoming performance would be the ultimate test of his acting abilities. It was difficult, but often worth the effort. He turned to his left. "Excuse me miss, but you look familiar. Haven't I seen you in my dreams?"

The water in the fountain was cold.
