great shot, but the bottom one tends to distract from the picture overall.
I haven't lessened the score for that, well done.

Your title makes me smile - nice try for a connection with "habits" there! I hope people give you the benefit of the doubt - this is a nice photo. |

It's no more a habit with them than falling asleep is with you. It's part of the natural cycle, and not optional. Nice shot, though. |

Very nice. It's seems a bit of a stretch for the habits theme but it doesn't change the fact that it's an amazing photo. The color of their eyes is amazing. |

I heard an explanation of why 17 years.. it is prime, so the potential eaters, that also "sleep" for a fixed number of years (always prime), can't never get in sync with them and terminate with all in some cicles... if one year they coincide, they have many many years to recover. |

Excellent colour & composition. I think it stretches the category a bit, but still scores well because of the quality. 9 |

Wonderful capture. They look bizarrely plastic - the saturation is lush and the focus is pretty crisp as is the DOF. I like your composition with the diagonal positions of the cicadas and the stem running the full diagonal. The periodicity of the cicadas is hardly a habit, merely their existence, but then again, to me bugs are a photography habit! |

You would take someof the yellow out of the image. Iwould work with selective colors and unsaturated your yellow just a bit.
