Salt used to be a precious commodity. Spilling salt was said to be unlucky, so as to deter waste.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, it's very helpful. I think while the red glow in the background adds some warmth, the backdrop would look better if it was out of focus, slightly sharper on the shakers themselves, and a little more focus on the grains of salt in the foreground.

Beautiful shot. I like that you can see part of the background, it gives a nice warm feel to the image. I like the composition very much. lhall

Meets the challenge. Good colors and composition. Well done.

nice setup. The spilt salt and upright pepper make a great contrast for each other. Also, the nodescript background only makes the picture better by bringing attention the the salt and pepper shakers.

I love the shakers. They are beautiful. In the photo they are just a tad out of focus. Not so much out of focus and maybe a little soft. The red behind the base of the shaker laying down distracts from the over all picture. Other wise aok.

nice composition :) My personal taste here would have been for a little more sharpness possibly... the yellow tinted lighting coming in from the rear looks a little odd witht he glass and white salt... - setzler

I'll not take marks off for it, but there are a lot of people doing spilt salt this week.

Oooh like a dutch painting - the background drapes are perfect so are the shakers and I like to soft focus. Colors all work together. highlights well placed. No advice to give here, it is just rigt 10

lots of macro shots of salt this week, this is one of the nicer ones.

DOF focusing on the removed top might have made a crisper image. Focus seems to be on the canvas in the back. Good lighting and composition.

nice, I like the indivdual granules, maybe if you'd zoomed in on those it'd been better.
