The only thing that I would suggest is maybe taking the picture in front of the subject to avoid the long shadow, or taking it at a different time of day.

Dressed it up nicely. Like the barefeet, the content of the sidewalk, her blue jeans, and the shadows, especially the little one of the foot. Good job. Hate to give it a 10 because it isn't snazzy or eye catching, but can't come us with a reason not to give you a 10

I thought of this one too....didn't know if it was a universal kinda thing or just a thing from my nabe. Now I know, unless.....hey are you from da Bronx??? LOL I was very careful for years for fear of hurting Mama. Well executed. Good luck! Grayce aka Gracious

I had considered doing something similar -- it would have been interesting to have someone else appear in the photo as "the mother" along with her reaction to her "broken back." :)

don't do it, don't do it, after all she's done for you how could you be so callous and uncaring you go and call your mother today and apologise for all the grief you have caused her.

Noooooo!!!!! Don't do it!!! I had totally forgotten about this superstition until I saw this week's entries. Thanks for reminding me. I find the shadow distracting. My favourite part of the picture are the painted toe nails, and they are clouded by the shadows. Overall, I like it. 7 Jacko.

Good idea, I think it would have worked better if the feet, which are a focal point of the shot weren't so much in shadow. DPz
