[Apr. 7th, 2009 10:01:21 AM]

This is the front view of the Capitol building. Because of some renovation work going on in front of the Capitol, there were no people around there. That actually helped in getting a better shot than the one with people moving around here and there.

Initially my plan was to take three exposures and merge them to HDR. But, the moment I placed the tripod, a security officer came and told that tripods are not allowed in that place. So, I shot one raw image and tonemapped.

There was a lot of dodging and burning done using 50% gray layer blended on vivd light mode. And also few more layers were blended on multiply mode and screen mode and then added layer mask to brush out the areas, where I wanted the required exposure.

Great shot, never been there but I imagine you had a pretty hard time getting this with no people!

There seems to be a bit of a halo around the buildings, especially around the dome roof.

Nice eye leading composition. So good that I'm sure it's been used on many postcards and shots of this scene.

This is a fantastic postcard, I love the crop and/or fitting of the frame, its just filled with great architecture, my one complaint is the halo-ing around the dome...

Great perspective, a definite postcard...the "haloing" almost works. Almost. ;-)

I love the sky but it seems to pail out the building a bit

No vote, commenting only. A little too artistic for a post card IMO. Still very well done, minor flaws with the halo. The colors blend very well.

A great postal card, indeed. Love the tones and the unusual view from theses buildings.

Looks a bit over exposed. Too much halo around the Dome and the buildings. I think a blue sky would have worked better.

These last few cards have been terrific - this is another example of proper composition which imparts the feeling of power and grandeur that is our Capital complex. The flag is perfectly positioned along with the soft overall golden glow is simple magic. The font is perfectly placed and correct - a good choice.

Im not sure about the way the sky fades in and out here, the halo around the dome is distracting. Other than that, great choice of subject, beautifully framed, nice use of late afternoon light. top ten.

HDR is a bit overdone for my tastes but it's a good photo and would make a good postcard.
