 Yes, this is the same location of my March Free Study entry ... but I couldn't resist shooting it again for this challenge (how could I have known).



I'd considered a different perspective or trying something unique, but ended up going with the same basic framing.

This is Tempe Town Lake. The bridge on the right is part of the new Phoenix Metro Light Rail system and spans 1530-feet. That's a light rail passing by (light streaks above bridge.

The bridge on the left is the historic Union Pacific steel truss bridge constructed in 1912 and is still active today. In fact, I have a couple shots with a train passing over it too, but because of the long exposures they didn't work as well.

Congrats on your top 10 finish, Rob! Love your free study shot, too. Can't believe our luck of finding the same place. If I had realized that was already in your free study entry, I wonder what I might have found to shoot later into the night? Probably would have been mugged or something -- things more likely worked out for the best... :D

Perhaps if I had stayed with one of my wider shots I could have given you more of a run for your money! ;) Hope next time we are of-one-mind that we actually get to meet.

From a technical standpoint, this is a terrific effort - crisp, sharp with everything detail well controlled and captured. From an artistic standpoint, it's rather bland and uninviting to the viewer. Sometimes an image, even one as technically competant as this one is, is just an image. A worthy entry into the challenge and directly related to the challenge subject. A good effort falling short in the artistic sense.
