Photographer’s Notes
A look at Seattle’s skyline from Seacrest (West Seattle) near sunset on a miserable Spring day. The sun, what little there is of it, is at my back mostly obscured by clouds. But I like the dramatic clouds of a Pacific Northwest Spring. And I like various looks at the city … in this case from the Space needle (left) to down town (right). Maybe you’ll like it to.

On an historical note, the very small pointy tower on the very far right, the Smith Tower, was the tallest building in Seattle in 1950. And for some time early last century, it was the tallest building west of the Mississippi. Time changes everything.

Here are some additional looks at the city from the same shoot.

Great shot. When I was in the Navy (7 years) my ship was lucky enough to go to the yards on Harbor Island so I got to see this view everyday for 15 months. I loved Seattle. Seems odd not seeing the old King Dome on right side of the frame now. Those were the good ole days!

Just read your description as well. I used to go to a couple of the bars on Admiral Way and do my laundry in West Seattle. Also met a girl and was with her for 6 years who was from there (W. Seattle).

I know exactly where this photo was taken from, and remember going there during Fleet Week years ago to watch some of the other Naval ships come in to visit. Again, great shot and I've added it to my fav's for nostalgic reasons in addition to the quality of the photo. Thanks for sharing it!

Ordinarily I am not a big fan of this type of border but it really works here with the tones of the photograph.

A competant image that is crisp, sharp and properly framed and composed - a technical success in every way. From an artistic standpoint, it is very dramatic with interesting details and a rather good mix of sky and cloud with the very slight color. An interesting image in that is has a grayscale feel to it - very unusual in a color photograph. Each image has to be evaluated on it's own merits and while this is a pretty standard cityscape, it sets it'self apart due to it's unigue presentation. A very worthy entry into the challenge and a potential top ten image.

Nice sharp shot, but I'm not crazy about that heavy black border.
