This was lots of work, lots of fun ļ
I tried to sample a woman with stitched mouth presenting ¡¥¡¦ I can¡¦t talk ¡¥¡¦ nightmare.
Now there are no thick threads and it is already 10PM so no way to buy new ones,
Take the one we have, make them double, and here we go ..
No the sticking part, glue didn¡¦t work, and for some weird reason my wife refused to use superglue?!! Women!! ¡¥¡¦ ƒº
So we tried few things till we found out that hair styling gell works just fine.
Being the funny supper cuter person I am, I through a joke and she laughed, and all the threads are lose NoooOOoooOOOOooo
Had to do it again, after that, off to the basement.

Used the under stares area, behind the water boiler tank.

Technical and strobes:
One Vivitar 285 Flash gelled with red gift rapping papers behind the boiler to cast an nightmarish red color on the wood.
Alienbees AB800 with brolley camera left, 20 degree angle to feather the light and that was all.

I am pleased as it took only 16 shots including all the testing shots to get it the way I wanted.
Hopefully this would do fine, and scared if it came tops. I don¡¦t want my pretty wife looking like this in my front page for ages ƒº

Processing:
Open RAW
Exposure, Contrast, Hue/Saturation,
Dodge and Burn.
Applied Halo filter to the entire image

No sharpening. No NeatImage.

Do you do this to your wife often Ameed? ;-) Very scary image that fits the challenge perfectly - not sure I'd want it on my wall though, lol. You are an excellent photographer Ameed!

Once again thanks a million for your wonderful comment/critique. Your comment really made it up for me in this challenge. Can̢۪t deny I was a little bit disappointed with the result, but people like you supercharge dcpiers and give them the momentum to continue,
God bless and all the best,

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Initial impression: I gave this a 9 in voting and stick by that vote. Very simple and very terrifying, very much a nightmare and I do think it should have finished in the top 10.

Technical: Like that there is so much darkness around, leaves lots to the imagination; unfortunately that also means you got dinged in the voting. Composition very good, like the way the blue-white of her blouse is balanced with the red light. The pp seems perfect for this shot.

Artistic: Love the attention to detail, the makeup, the hair, the pose, the threads, the eyes rolling back in the head, everything. And the idea of being unable to talk is very strongly conveyed, even without a title you could've guessed what this nightmare was about.

A really strong entry, sadly the dramatic use of lighting didn't resonate with most dpcers. However, you can either shoot to please the dpc crowd, or you can (and imho) should, shoot to please yourself. Very good work, you've been improving steadily, keep up the great work!

Feel free to PM me with any questions,

Susan

Thanks Anton, can't deny I am disappointed with the result, it started with 7.3 and kept going down. One of the photographers I respect said, if you want to make something interesting, don't light it all. This is what was in my mind, beside .. I didn't think nightmares usually very clear and well lit :)
Thanks for your kind comment Anton, appreciated.

thats really creepy. this was a bad challenge to look at this late at night:/
yeh this is still really creepy even in the middle of the day. could be the cover to one of those freaky movies they keep putting out. my guess is the number 1 spot, if not two. if it scores below that i will be shocked

Very gothic and effective, the zombie is a natural supernatural subject for this challenge. A terrific image in homage to many B level horror movies. Well done.
