I'm getting my first lesson in photoshop on Monday. As of now I've just been winging it. Tweeking and trying to figure things out on my own. Besides the fact that I have a exceptionally old version on photoshop. Everyone's comments have been quite helpful. I appreciate then greatly! Keep them coming :) |

This shot intrigued me when I saw it for the first time, I decided to download it and play around with the curves...purely as a learning exercise for myself. The result was quite dramatic, just add a curves layer in Photoshop and create a gentle S curve, then add a contract layer and set it to 50. |

Interesting shot, but it looks very flat. Maybe it would look better taken at dawn/dusk with a clear sky so you would maybe get some shadows and different light levels? |

I like the subject, interesting, but overall the contrast is flat. |

Nicely composed. There's a lot of texture here. Make sure you use all 150KB allotted to you in these challenges, so you don't get JPG artifacts. |

great subject. Good composition, but the lighting is pretty bad. |

With some levels adjustments, this would "pop", poor Detroit |

One of the more interesting snaps in this challenge but lacking in contrast and pop. If you use curves in Photoshop or equivalent, you can increase the contrast a little and that improves the photo a lot. To make the composition work better, you somehow need to capture a detail with the alley as the background. Otherwise, this ends up just being an empty background which does not prevent the viewer from clicking on to the next image quickly... Detroit looks like my kind of city to photograph. NYC is too damn clean these days (safe as a result). |

Not a bad shot but it needs some contrast adjustments to make it pop |
