These are fun birds to watch and photograph. They are very outgoing and not afraid of people. This was taken at the new bird exhibit at the Philadelphia Zoo. I even have a couple of pix with one of these Tucanettes tasting my lens hood.

Post: I don't think many of the voters got the fact that this was a digital art image. It was to look as much like a cartoon as I could do in Basic Editing. Thanks for the comments, and the validation request!! that really made my day :D |

Oh, how adorable!! And yeah, voters can't quite figure how to take the "digital art" shots sometimes. The processing definitely suits this one. |

Great expression. Love the lean of the head and the angle of the capture. The colors are beautiful. |

This doesn't come across as 'from the ground up' for me. Would like to see a more vertical aspect from the camera for this challenge. Strong processing on this one, like the composition but you have lost the bottom claws. |

really crazy haloing from the post processing. This image has been pushed too much trying to make it something more. A well processed image doesn't look processed in my opinion. I would however like to see what the original looked like because there is a lot of potential in the shot.
In terms of the challenge it doesn't really say "from the ground up" in my opinion. Its really a case of using the perspective not just shooting something higher than the photographer. |

I feel this image has potential to be spectacular, at the moment I feel it has been overworked. I would adjust curves, contrast, sharpen (minimum), change the background to a darker color so the magnificent ones you captured on the birds chest could really stand out! |

Overprocessed, IMO, looks pretty artificial. |

Looks over processed to me. There seems to be a halo around the bird. Neat subject and nice composition in my opinion though. |

There's a bit of a halo around the bird -- too much unsharp mask maybe? |
