As opposed to all the pretty flowers we will see in this challenge, I wanted to go for something on the other end of the scale. Thus this take on the undesired end of the childhood game of loves me, loves me not. Cropped it, adjusted the contrast a bit. Used a little clarity from Topaz, and that was pretty much it. Now I wait to get my head handed to me by those who can really process pictures.

Hello, found this in the critque club section:

I think the photo suffered in this challenge because the main focus isn't the flower. I think its the main reason why points were docked.

Technically, shot well, the frame is filled up good, maybe a closer crop wouldn't hurt this by giving it a more abstract feel.

Artisically, very nice and not over-processed but for advanced edtiting, probably under-processed. Maybe you could have taken advantage by boosting the tones a bit. I think this is pretty creative and moody. I like the production values of the shot. But like you mentioned in the details, its out of the box, and most of these become overlooked even though there is loads of creativity.

Overall, a 5.0 is a good score in a challenge like this...luckily, you didn't fall under average.

the grain in the background bothers me a bit, and i dont exactly feel 'flower' here. maybe if the flower was up closer to the camera and more of the focus it would be more of the centerpiece of the photo. nice idea though

Hi there, teammate. I already know that you are a bit disappointed with your score, so I'll try to guess why it does not please the crowds. Firstly, it sounds a bit stupid but I think the flower coming down from the upper right corner looks a bit unnatural and set up. Parallel and maybe slightly wrapped in the paper might have worked better.
Secondly, the composition, the focus and the lighting are all on the paper. I do absolutely love the 3D-impression you get from the crinkles and shadows. Unfortunately, the perfection in one place draws the attention away from the flower. I doubt it's very comforting, but I'm sure that in a "letter" challenge it would have scored very well.

Obviously I cannot vote, but I would have given you a 6

Ah! A sense of humor! Not the typical flower shot. Love it!

nice idea but the noise in this shot is distracting!
