 tried a shot of my son and my husband in the cemetery -- ghosting my son, but it didn't work out well enough.

Here's the attempt [thumb]811116[/thumb]. I liked the idea, but since the only light was from the car headlights, everything seemed flat. Also, I didn't care for the shadows it created. It was fun, though, and my son was creeped out being in the graveyard at 10:30 at night. He was sure that we were going to get into trouble.

Anyway, the bird is a mockingbird. He/she is collecting to feed one or more babies. I can hear the babies chirping in the trees.

Wow!! a 2nd! The voting process was so exciting, I thought maybe I'd get in the top 10, but really didn't think I had a chance for a ribbon! Thanks everyone!

By the way, he/she was definitely collecting to feed a baby. I saw where she went to feed. the shots are hand held at the end of my 100-400 range, but they're still fun. The baby is so demanding!

Great capture, beautiful detail, great composition, clean background... in many ways a perfect capture ... and yet it doesn't thrill me in the way some bird photography does. Perhaps it's that black background, maybe there's part of me that feels more lifted when I see a more natural environmental backdrop that places the bird in context? I'm not sure. On the other hand, it's an image I'd be pleased as punch with, had I taken it myself!

Very nice photo. Very clear and the colors are good. I see this as a hunter and hunted subject though.
