OK,a somewhat pompous title, I know, but, hey, I absolutely love chess. The process of seeing the game is what I find most intoxicating. I've been teaching our 5 year old, Abby, to play this week. Bella likes to move the pieces around, but Abby is finally understanding the basics, i.e., names of pieces and where they can move. She set up the board tonight before I got home from work, she was very proud of herself, and excited to play! Wahoo! My very own chess partner!!! Anyone who has taught their kids chess feel free to shoot me some advice.

I'm hoping the chess players will connect with the image. No need to worry about the score with this entry! I know where it will finish. ;)

Thanks for taking the time to comment. The depth of field (blur you are referencing) was purposeful and served the purpose of directing the viewer to the intersection of the four squares, the in focus four right angles (square).

Great title. I feel the thinking on the board. I only gave this a 6. Underrated!

I like the idea, just not the other piece in the top right, which detracts from the main piece.

Fabulous DOF choice and slight angle, almost making this an abstract but still clear what it is...

I like the way the shallow depth of field gives the feeling of trying visualize the next move.

Good idea, but the depth of field almost seems too narrow for me. Would be nice if one of the squares was fully in focus. I do like the choice to tilt the image.
