My first entry.

I was taking photos of my sons kindergarten graduation when I notices this child strecthing and fidgeting. I waited a few moments and there it was, a huge yawn. Hope this fits the challenge.

Work had to be done in Jasc Paintshop so it's not what I would have liked. It looks better out of PS. No time to submit later. Enjoy.

Zoomdak, take a look at your photo then look at this one again. They are completely different animals. You photographed chairs. The empty chairs in conjunction with the title make it work for the challenge, but in itself it isn̢۪t a particularly good picture. Please do not take this as an attack. Perhaps what you should be observing is that virtually the same shot got a blue and gold ribbon. This doesn̢۪t say anything about the photographer, other than they know each other. It says a great deal about how people rate and what people on this site like. Look at the placements. 4th and 5th are virtually identical. Looking out the window was completely overdone for this challenge. 6th place, a very nice shot in comparison. 7th place, how did this place so high? It̢۪s not a bad idea but is it a good shot? 8th place is a lovely portrait, but waiting? The only thing that makes this image about waiting is the title. 9th and 10th are pregnant women, what a surprise. They fit the challenge but are they good? There were some great images in this challenge and they placed so low. Granted the same can be said about my photo, I have no pretenses about my photo meeting the challenge perfectly. But it̢۪s different from the rest. It is technically different and the image is completely different from any other posted. So that̢۪s a good thing. Congrats to the winners. The blue ribbon winner has a truly beautiful image and deserved to win. What are ratings based on here? Is it technique and image? Pretty colors? How close the image matches the challenge? What?

Brilliant. Should have been in the ribbons.

I'm sorry, but this annoys me that you would do this well. I guess it's a bit rude, but I had the same oppurtunities (taking pictures at a high school graduation ceremony) and my picture got 210th, and this one got 19th. I'm not complaining about my placement, or at least not trying too, but maybe posting my dissapointment on not getting a better shot.
Good job though, great capture of the moment.

Obviously bored, but waiting? Ya, I guess, but the message doesn't seem very strong.

Good depth of field capture. Excellent theme catch... I think that exemplifies the concept of waiting perfectly. A 10, I think.

The boy's expression is perfect. Good use of shallow DOF. I give it a 9

Those commencement speeches can get boring! This is a super illuststration of selective focus. Even though most of the image is totally OOF - in this case it just draws the eye to the in focus area. The highest area of constrst is where the black border meets the white border - which means it will draw attention. My thought is that it doesn;t need a border at all.

This conveys "tired" to me - not really waiting...but a great shot with good use of depth of field. Nice capture.

Waiting (or too much thereof) clearly communicated. Great choice of subject, but is oddly truncated by the closer faces on the left.
