 This is a crop of the shot that we will use for the 2010 Puhoi Pub Woodchopping Day Poster (it is sponsored by Tui hence the selective desaturation to hilight their logos etc).

The title is what we are thinking of for the slogan on the poster. Tui posters always have a slogan that goes "... since 1889".

This is the 4th year I've done the photo for the poster. This is 2006's shot and was taken a week after I got my camera. At that stage I didn't even know how to clone out the fence wire!


Lighting was the pub lights plus a flash off camera to the left of the shot (you can see a shadow on the door that shows the angle it's coming from). There is movement in two of the guys in the back but I can't do much about that now. I didn't see it at the time I took the shot (I blame the piddly little LCD on the 350D ... because it can't be my fault can it?)

I was so not going to enter this but the balance of opinion just swung to the "enter it" side so...

Yeah right! The Puhoi pub, that great instution, I have sunk a few beers there myself over the years. I really hope the kiwi humour isn't being lost on the non kiwi voters.

The processing here is excellent , suits the overall atmosphere very well. Unfortunately the EXIT sign spoils it for me here (which you hv no control over). 7
