"...How did you get the the little star lights?"

sun reflections on water drops

"...the top right seems a little blown out compared to the others though..."

different lighting - this bothered me at first, in fact bordered on 'clashing' to my eyes and I nearly chose another image, but it grew on me after a while, especially the hue matching the body, which is subtly reflected in the other captures - still bothers me though, just a little

"...A slight gripe is the bokeh in shot #1 top left where the other 2 have none to speak of. Otherwise excellent technical macro(s)."

good point and well spotted - of course the angle mattered, but for the record: clockwise from top left = F/10, F/9, F18

So shocked at your placing. You deserved much higher ranking. Outstanding work.

You were robbed. Landscapes and studio work is relatively easy compared with unco-operative bugs. I have favourited you as I'm gonna get this good one day (checked your portfolio). No point in my 180mm Sigma APO f/3.5 1:1 HSM blah blah and not using it...I personally like the abstract side of nature, like a closeup of the fur, the bug, the leaf, the grains of sand as you've done.

Masterful and appealing. A slight gripe is the bokeh in shot #1 top left where the other 2 have none to speak of. Otherwise excellent technical macro(s).

Your score should fly with this one. I like the way you've captured the incandescence of the fly body & wings.
