Wasn't going to enter this challenge and didn't make any effort to go shooting specifically for it. However, I came up with something I had shot anyway that I think works well. (sometimes those are the best) I was asked to shoot the Halloween fair for the YMCA where my wife works. I put myself at the base of the bouncy-slide for some fun shots of the kids coming down. This little girl was particularly animated, and even at 5 frames a second, I think she was in the air for most of them. I just love the expression of joy on her face, hence the title. Seems that I shot it a bit tilted in the first place, so I added a little bit more, and I think it added to the action.
Pre-challenge notes:
Guessing a low to mid 5, perhaps.
Anticipated critiques:
-Harsh midday sun.
-Might be a little graininess showing in the sky on some monitors.
Post-challenge notes:
Came in about where expected, but an in-challenge fave, a Posthumous yellow, and a high commenter average tells me it had strong appeal for a narrow group.
I think the hard midday sun was what hurt the score the most, but I think I did as well with it as possible. On top of which, I really like the shot myself. I think I managed to convey a sense of childhood playfulness and joy. Not a bad showing for something that started as a good snapshot. |

Oh that's such a genuine portrait of a little girl having a ton of fun. Great timing. |

What fun! I LOVE those slides, and miss the times when our daughters were younger and we'd go. |

And this one got a yellow ribbon - very nice! I like it except for the strange artifacts across the upper middle of it. I'm sure the new Photoshop can take care of that for you. |

I like this a lot! The deep colors, the composition, and most of all that look on her face! And her shiny shiny shiny gold pants. And that you got her in the air. :) |

she looks like she's having fun, definitely a tilted image, the border doesn't work for me on this one. |
