 Just a leaf in the woods being struck by the evening sun.

Pre-challenge notes:
I expect to see a lot of similar entries to this. I had another shot that had a more creative view, looking out from a stand of trees at a line of foliage in the distance. It was far too detailed for 720 pixels, however. Resizing and compression killed it. One of those nice ideas that just didn't work.


Also had a shot of this at a slightly different angle which had greater DOF, and was perhaps technically better, but I liked this one better, so I am going with my gut on this one.

Anticipated critiques:
-Expect some comments about the shallow DOF. Either suggesting it should be deeper, or that focus is in the wrong place.
-Background is too busy

Post-challenge notes:
Just an ok showing, but the fact that I feel a 5.3-ish score is doing poorly for me is a sign that my photography is improving.

Amazing macro. The colors of the subject and in the background are beautiful. Like DOF.

I had this one much much higher than this (one of your 8s). The colors and the DOF just make this an intersting image to explore. The title is great as well.

too much confusion for me here, i like your idea, but around the main leave there are too many subjects that distract our gaze from the main...
