The Expo WB disc has a photo in the instruction brochure that has the same type frog, but a different pose. I did not want to make a duplicate, but wanted to try a similar shot. So, instead of the frog facing head on, front legs spread over the disc, I decide to try to get the frog to look as if he were instructed how to pose. I really liked this one best.
Lighting was pretty basic - two spot lights shining from each side, but at different heights.

Great clarity and color. The base detracts from the brilliance of the subject a little, IMO.

Great subject. Don't know if the frog was shot totally in the wild, looking at what it is sitting on it does not look like it. This could have been a winner if you had a closer crop, more even background and the thing that it is sitting on was not as distracting!

This critter knows how beautiful he is - the colours and contrasts are superb and the shot is so crisp you can almost see all the individual cells which make up his froggy skin. The silver he is sitting on is a nice touch as it both illuminates him and adds to the richness of the portrait.

Nice colours, expression on the frog, background detracts etc but is it a true macro?
