Remarks: a fine Toscanesque with lovely natural tones and colour. Not a spectacular composition, but an emphatically appropriate one.
The rich, furrowed soil, so dominant here, afford the viewer an expansive vanishing point made of the subtlest water colour gauze, through which he is to be encouraged to disappear. Magic, yet tangibly fresh! (And, there is, to my sense, no shape more beautiful than the arch, especially here).
